Peter Lin, a PhD student in the Penn Lab, recently attended the AACR Annual Meeting held in Chicago April 25th-30th. He presented his poster focused on identifying specific proteins as novel MYC-driven vulnerabilities in order to target MYC in cancer. To date, he has successfully validated novel proteins as promising candidates that are being further pursued.

As a first-time attendee, he found the AACR Annual Meeting to clearly reflect the frontier of cancer research. It was a privilege to learn about cutting-edge advances, including new insights into extrachromosomal DNA and its role in MYC dysregulation. A highlight was connecting with both new and familiar colleagues, including in-person meetings with organizers for a global and otherwise virtual mentorship program. The conference’s breadth offered a strategic perspective on my research. Given MYC’s complex role in cancer, it’s easy to become siloed. This broader view was invaluable in contextualizing and positioning my work within the global scientific community.
